Northern Cape_Novalspont

Novalspont is in the corner of Nothern Cape , Eastern Cape and the Freestate it is a very small settlement the Hotel is the only business. The owners of the Hotel claim that their bar counter of 33 meter is the longest in South Africa. The area is rich in Anglo Boer War history. In those days there was a pont over the river and most of the transport routs went through this town. One of the first business men came to this area to make comes out of tortoise shells what was not a good idea because the Boers wear hats so he started to make hats which was a great success. At Novalspont was also a big concentration camp
